Chain of Gold (COG) is the first book of the Last Hours series which is the sequel to the infernal devices series. I know it's been almost a year since COG came out but i need to share my feeling about this book somewhere. Oh my gosh this book is so good! I haven't read a book this good since reading Percy Jackson when I was 7 years old. I am going to try not to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read it. First off, I absolutely love every single character. Well... except for Grace Blackthorn but we will get to that in a minute. I think my favorite character is Anna Lightwood. I find her so inspiring. I love her 'I don't care what anybody thinks of me' attitude. My other favorite character is probably Anna's brother Christopher. Christopher is such a lovable character that I think anyone would love. Now on to my least favorite character, Grace Blackthorn. I kind of hate Grace. I mean I understand why she is doing what she is doing but she is still manipulative. For someone who has completed all of the Shadowhunter books during quarantine I can tell you that she is not the worst Blackthorn out there. Now, any of my friends know that I always manage to find one relationship in a book, TV show or movie that I just absolutely love and become attached too. Which makes it very upsetting for me when the inevitable happens and tears them apart. For Chain of Gold there are so many relationships that I love that I can't possibly pick one. So, instead I picked two. The first one is James and Cordelia aka Jordelia. I think they are the cutest couple. I love that they have known each other since they were little and I love that Cordelia is going to be Parabatai with James's sister, Lucie. If you don't know what Parabatai are I definitely recommend reading any of the Shadowhunter books before reading Chain of Gold. The second favorite relationship is Alastair and Thomas. I love how Thomas used to follow Alastair around when they went to the shadowhunter academy. I also love how Thomas defends Alastair later in the book. I would rate Chain of Gold 5 out of 5 stars. I am so excited for Chain of Iron to come out in March 2021.
