King of Scars is a Sequel is the first book in a sequel duology to the Shadow and Bone series. The Main Characters/Narrators are Nikolai Lantsov and Zoya Nazalensky from the Shadow and Bone Trilogy, and Nina Zenik from the Six of Crows Duology. King of Scars takes place six months after the Six of Crows Duology and two years after the Shadow and Bone Trilogy.

In King of Scars, Nikolai is King. Many of Ravka's enemies have gathered together and cause some problem for Nikolai, but that isn't his only problem. Nikolai has darkness brewing and growing stronger inside him after the events of the Civil War. With the Help of his Commander, Zoya Nazalensky, Nikolai must risk everything to save his country.

When I first read the Shadow and Bone Trilogy i didn't like it nearly as much as i liked the Six of Crows duology. So, i was a bit nervous to begin reading King of Scars. I did like Nikolai and Zoya in Shadow and Bone, but I didn't know if i like this kind of fantasy adventure. In took a little bit for me to really get into the story. I think once all the things that have been happening in Ravka for the past two year has been established i really liked the story. I thought it was interesting that Nikolai has this monster inside that comes out at night. I also really loved seeing Zoya and Nikolai's relationship. We didn't really see much of it in Shadow and Bone. I also loved seeing more of Genya and David as a married couple. My Favorite quote in the entire book is when david says "If you ever upset my wife again, I will kill you where you stand'. Let me just talk about the ending though. The Darkling is back.

I would Rate King of Scars a 4 out of 5. I really liked the plot and the different characters interactions and that ending was just mind blowing. Follow me on Insta @extremelybookish and comment below any book recommendations. Happy reading!!!
