The 5th Wave series (The 5th wave, The Infinite sea, The Last Star) is a dystopian book series that follows 16 year-old Cassie Sullivan as she survives a world with Aliens after half the population of earth was killed. Normally this series is exactly the type of series I would read which is why I was surprised by how much I disliked this series. For me the biggest problem is not the characters or even the plot, it's actually the pacing. I'm used to reading books that introduce the problem or the "Big bad" fairly quickly. I believe that books that are of the dystopian genre should be fast paced. I did like how detailed Cassie's description of all the different wave's she has been through. I also think it's kind of sweet how Cassie carry's around her little brother teddy bear so that she can give it to him when she saves him. As much as I love a good Star-crossed lovers relationship, Cassie and Evan weren't that great together. Cassie and Evan were always getting separated and to be honest I thought Evan was a little bit creepy. I don't think I would date a guy who was watching me sleep and going through my stuff while I'm gone because he's looking for the best way to kill me. For these reasons I rate The 5th wave series 3 out of 5 stars.
