Hi, I am finally back. After deciding to take a two week break from blogging to visit my grandparents as well as starting a new job and going on vacation with my family.
The One is the third book in The Selection series. The Selection series is a series that takes place in a dystopian world where everyone is assigned to a caste and it is very difficult to get out of that caste. Every time a crown prince turns 16, they host a selection with 35 girls from their kingdom. In The One, they are down to 6 girls. one of these girls is America Singer, a five from Carolina. In this book, America must give her all to win the Prince’s heart.
All the books in this series so far are “okay” books to me. I didn’t hate them but I didn’t like them either. To me they are kinda “meh” books. I found that really was uninterested in the whole rebels plot line. I would have preferred just to see The selection, which is different for me because I tend to like books that have a lot more action then romance. America was a good protagonist ,but I felt like the love triangle between her, Maxon, and Aspen was kinda boring. I felt like Aspen trying to fight for her love was a little bit cringey. I do like that he ended up with someone else ,but I do feel like if he wasn’t in the books except at the beginning I wouldn’t even care. Aspen and America’s relationship kind of reminded me of Gale and Katniss’s relationship in the hunger games.
I would rate this book a 3 of of 5 stars. comment any books recs. Please subscribe more reviews. Happy Reading!!!
